BABY AND TODDLER ROOM
The 2-5’s Room accommodates children between the ages of 2 and 5 years. Between 4 and 7 members of staff work in this room.
Children access the activities and resources in the nursery supported by their Key Worker and members of staff.
Outdoor play is part of the learning environment children experience at Darnall Community Nursery, providing opportunity to access all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. In order for children to make better sense of their environment, we give them opportunity to play outside in all weathers. We have a supply of wet weather suits, Wellington boots, hats and umbrellas to ensure they are protected against the elements. We have a sensory garden and a vegetable plot, which provide opportunity for children to experience the natural environment and participate in planting and growing their own vegetables.
HOME VISITS AND TRANSITIONS
Once you have accepted a place for your child at Darnall Community Nursery, we will arrange a home visit. This supports your child's transition to nursery because they meet members of staff in a safe familiar environment. Parents will be given information about the nursery and have the opportunity to ask any questions
INDIVIDUAL CARE PLAN
On entry to the nursery you will be asked by your child’s Key Worker to contribute to setting up your child’s individual care plan. You will be given opportunity to speak to staff about your child’s diet, sleep routine, toileting needs and any other needs your child may have.
